Most warranty pages read the same: a big number up top and fine print underneath. That doesn’t help much when you’re standing in the driveway at night and one section of your roofline looks off.
This guide is about the practical side. When you buy Gemstone permanent lights through LightXP, you get two kinds of coverage from two different places: a lifetime manufacturer product warranty from Gemstone, and a 1-year labor warranty from LightXP on our install. Here’s what each one means, who handles what, and what to do if something ever needs attention.
LightXP is an Authorized Gemstone Dealer · Cincinnati/Dayton area, based in Maineville. If you want the full list of what comes with an install, read what’s included in a LightXP install. This article goes deeper on the warranty itself.
Two warranties, two jobs
Permanent lighting is a product and a service at the same time, so the coverage is split the same way.
- Gemstone covers the product. Gemstone provides a lifetime manufacturer product warranty on the lights (rated around 50,000 hours) and a 10-year warranty on other components. Manufacturer terms apply.
- LightXP covers the install. We provide a 1-year labor warranty on our installation. That’s the work our crew did on your house.
- LightXP is your local contact for both. You don’t have to work out which warranty applies before you reach out. You text us, and we sort it out.
The split matters because a product warranty alone doesn’t put anyone on a ladder at your house. A labor warranty alone doesn’t cover the lights themselves. You want both, and you want one local team to call.
What “lifetime product warranty” means in practice
The lights are the part of the system you see every night, so that’s where Gemstone’s long coverage sits. A few things are worth knowing:
- Individual lights are replaceable. The system is built so a single light can be swapped. One bad light doesn’t mean replacing a whole run.
- It’s manufacturer coverage, so manufacturer terms define it. We won’t invent extra promises on top of Gemstone’s terms. If you want the specifics for your system, ask us and we’ll walk you through them.
- If you sell the house. The warranty has to be registered within 30 days of install, and it can be transferred once to a new homeowner, who gets the remaining term up to 2 years.
What the 1-year LightXP labor warranty means in practice
Our labor warranty covers the installation work we did on your home for the first year. That’s the measure-and-install side: how the track went up, how the system was set up, and the work our crew is responsible for.
In plain terms, it means the people who installed your lights are on the hook for that work, and you have a local number to text. The first year is also when most homeowners settle into the app and the scenes they actually use. So it helps to know you can reach a real team, not a ticket queue in another state.
After the first year, LightXP is still the local team for service. Ask us how service visits work after year one, and we’ll tell you straight before you sign anything.
If a light acts up: what to actually do
Here is the simple version.
- Check the app first. A lot of “something’s wrong” moments are a scene, schedule, or brightness setting. Our guide on how permanent Christmas lights work covers the basics.
- Snap a photo or short video at night. It shows us which section and what it’s doing, which saves everyone time.
- Text it to (513) 480-8377 with your name and address. Same Maineville number you used when you booked.
- We figure out what applies. Whether it’s a product question for Gemstone’s warranty or something on our install, we tell you what happens next and handle it with you.
You don’t need to read warranty language to get help. That’s our job.

Why “who backs it” matters as much as “how long”
A long warranty is only as useful as the path to use it. If you bought from a seller with no local crew, a “lifetime” claim can still mean shipping parts back and forth and climbing your own ladder.
That’s a big part of why we wrote why an authorized Gemstone dealer matters. Genuine product plus a local installer gives the warranty a clear path. If you’re comparing against DIY products sold under the same “permanent” search term, read permanent Christmas lights vs Govee too. Those are a different category with a different support story.
Questions to ask about any warranty quote
Ask these of anyone quoting your house, including us.
- Who covers the lights, and for how long? Get the manufacturer coverage in writing.
- Who covers the install, and for how long? Product coverage and labor coverage are separate things.
- Who do I contact, and are they local? One local number beats a hotline the first time something needs a visit.
- Does the coverage transfer if I sell? Worth knowing up front.
- How does service work after the labor warranty ends? A straight answer now saves frustration later.
What it means for price
We don’t post prices, because a number online would be wrong for most houses. What we can say is that the warranty is part of what you’re paying for: genuine Gemstone product, a local crew, app setup with you, and a team that answers after the sale. A lower quote with no local labor coverage isn’t the same offer.
