Cost & basics

How much does permanent outdoor lighting cost?

Most front-of-home LightXP installs run about $3,500–$6,000. Whole-home projects cost more and depend on the house (linear feet, peaks, complexity). We send a custom proposal after a quick pre-qual — no pressure.

How long do the lights last?

The LED points are rated for 50,000+ hours and built for year-round outdoor use. With typical evening use, that’s on the order of ~20 years.

What does it cost to run them?

They’re efficient LEDs. For an average-size home example (~150 lights, about 6 hours a night at full brightness), Gemstone’s math is roughly a few dollars a month — often around $50/year. Your house will vary with size and how bright you run them.

Do you only do Christmas lighting?

No. These are permanent architectural lights. Warm white every night of the year, plus millions of colors for holidays, game days, and parties — controlled from an app.

Look & feel

Are the lights visible during the day?

The color-matched track mounts discreetly along the roofline / soffit and is designed to be nearly invisible in daylight. You see the light when you want it on — not a bulky fixture during the day.

Can I change the colors?

Yes. Control warm white, millions of colors, patterns, and schedules from the Gemstone Lights app.

Can each light be a different color?

Yes — every light is individually addressable. You can set one light (or every third light) independently, turn some off, or build architectural patterns. You’re never stuck with one color across the whole house.

Can different parts of the house run different colors?

Yes. In the app you can group lights into zones (garage, dormers, front roofline, porch, etc.) and run different colors or patterns on each zone at the same time — like team colors on the dormers while the rest stays warm white.

How far apart are the lights?

On the Gemstone track system, lights are typically spaced about 9 inches apart — bright enough to highlight the home without washing it out.

App & control

How do I control the lights?

Through the Gemstone Lights app: timers, patterns, scenes, and remote control. On/off also works with Google Home or Amazon Alexa.

Is there a monthly app fee?

No monthly fee for the Gemstone Lights app.

What if my Wi‑Fi is down?

The system can still operate over a local Bluetooth connection when Wi‑Fi isn’t available.

Can more than one person control the system?

Yes. You can share app access with family members so more than one phone can run the lights.

Installation

How long does install take?

Most residential installs are completed in about a day, depending on the size and complexity of the home.

Can I do the front now and add sides later?

Yes. Many homeowners start with the front roofline and add sides or the back later.

Will it damage my roof or siding?

We mount a color-matched track along the soffit/fascia with professional install standards. It’s designed to stay put without the yearly ladder climbs of temporary lights.

Do you color-match the track to my home?

Yes. Tracks are color-matched to common soffit and fascia colors so the system blends in when the lights are off.

What about gutters, wood trim, or odd soffits?

We typically work around gutters and install on wood or aluminum trim. Custom track profiles are available for unusual soffit/fascia shapes when needed.

Where does the control box go?

Usually somewhere discreet with power access — often along a side of the home near the roofline, or in a garage attic area. It plugs into a standard outlet; it doesn’t need a dedicated new circuit in typical installs.

Can I install these myself?

No DIY kit. LightXP professionally installs Gemstone Lights so the track, power, and weather sealing are done right.

Durability & warranty

Are they waterproof and weatherproof?

Yes. The track lighting system is built for outdoor exposure (IP67-rated for the track lighting system) with UV-rated components and surge protection on the system.

What if a light goes out?

Individual lights are replaceable. Gemstone provides a lifetime product warranty on the lights; other components carry a long manufacturer warranty. LightXP is your local team for service after the sale.

What’s the warranty?

Gemstone Lights offers a lifetime warranty on the lights (rated ~50,000 hours) and a 10-year warranty on other components; warranties are typically transferable to a new homeowner. Labor/service terms are through LightXP locally — ask us if you want the details for your install.
